Focus on your goal
If you have been working hard to lose weight and stay healthy, then you will likely need to remind yourself of your reasons WHY over the holidays. Having a vision of how you will look and feel when you reach your goal is really important. Think of those jeans that you want to get into and how good you’ll feel in them. Envision yourself exercising and having more energy. If you have a picture or a magazine clipping that inspires you, make sure to hang it up in a prominent place.
The other important thing is to enlist the help of others! If you have a friend who is also focused on staying healthy over the holidays, then work together to make sure you are both successful. Call or text each other if you are about to fall off the wagon. Exercise together and cheer each other on. It is so much easier to stick to your plan when you are not alone.
By having a plan that allows you to have fun AND stay healthy over the holidays, you’ll be much better off when January rolls around. And if you are successful at making this holiday a “No Gain Holiday”, then it’s my opinion that you should treat yourself to something special (and non-food related) at the beginning of the year. Go get a massage, buy those cute shoes, or something else that will make you feel special. After all your hard work, you deserve it.
